July 4th Surprise: Doomfist News!

Hey everyone!

If you live in America, Happy Independence Day!

For everyone around the world who plays Overwatch, this has been an exciting day. More news of Doomfist has arrived in the form of a Times of Numbani news article discussing the attack on a Helix Security facility three months ago.

That’s right! We finally have the name of the man who will wield the Doomfist gauntlet: Akande Ogundimu.

I always wondered what the third poster’s text said…

The full news article (which you can find here) claims that “after recent events in Numbani, it can now be confirmed that what occurred was an attack by the Talon organization with the express purpose of freeing one man: Akande Ogundimu, better known as Doomfist.”

Basically the gist is that Reaper killed a bunch of guys to break Doomfist out of prison, which led to the attack on the Numbani International Airport, the theft of the Doomfist gauntlet, and ultimately Efi Oladele’s creation of Overwatch‘s 24th hero, Orisa.

How about THIS?

The article also says that “Helix officials have been unwilling to reveal whether or not there were additional escapees or items taken from the facility, but sources have indicated that it is likely that there were further security breaches in addition to Ogundimu.” This sounds a lot like there will be more villains coming out, and I’m very excited to meet them!

Fortunately for Overwatch fans, this article is proof that Doomfist is no longer an “if,” but rather a “when,” and I couldn’t be more excited!

What do you guys think?
